György Kurtág’s “Kafka Fragments” is considered by many to be one of the great works of the last few decades and we are privileged to be able to present this work in a performance featuring renowned soprano Stacie Dunlop and violinist Andrea Neumann. With a text gleaned from Franz Kafka’s diaries, letters and notebooks, the 40 short pieces that comprise this work for an incredibly intense and emotional expression of the compositional virtuosity of György Kurtág, Hungary’s preeminent living composer.
Also featured on the program will be works by two of Canada’s most acclaimed composers, Brian Current and his work “Sungods”, and Hope Lee’s “across the veiled distances: Ling’s Dream”.
