artist statement

i am a dreamer, a thought weaver, a visioner of reimaginings who intermingles, investigates and animates these dreams through play, deep discussion and thorough exploration.

fascinated on the brink of obsession with taking a work in its existing form and deconstructing and rebirthing it into a new medium inspired by my creative curiosity has resulted in several hybrid forms in the performative worlds bridging contemporary music, contemporary opera, and contemporary circus arts.
my thought process revolves around space: giving work the space it needs to grow; giving myself the space to process, formulate, incubate and create. in these times of immediacy and instantaneousness, it is a gift to be able to sit with a thought, waiting until the time is right to begin the work. pushing and rushing are a form of my past life. my present, my now, is one of measured processes, time-taking and patience.

my process

heart centred, yet rooted in my memories

child within; inner child; child-like, playful

childhood dreams, childhood trauma,
an unbounded imagination place
many of my dreams start from this place and build
when i think of my creative process, from a very early age, not having skills or training, rather finding my way into things through a natural proclivity and curiosity, and then always striving for something more challenging, something that would give me more meaning, more emotional connection and experience
maybe because i cut off my emotions early on, i was/have always been looking for something outward to help move me/be moved by, when i take that thing in and move it through my voice, mind or body
